Residential, new build
Torquay, Victoria
In progress
Set in the coastal town of Torquay, this family home for a young family is designed to balance privacy, durability, and a strong connection to the landscape and light. The home is introduced by five-metre-high rammed earth walls at the entry, giving it a strong, grounded presence from the street.
Behind the solid front elevation, the layout shifts to a more open and expansive arrangement. A series of large north-facing courtyards organise the plan, bringing daylight deep into the home and enabling passive environmental performance. These outdoor spaces are integral to the living areas, providing visual connection, natural ventilation, and secure areas for play and relaxation.
Material selection and form are informed by the coastal conditions, with an emphasis on thermal mass, privacy, and long-term performance.
